I was looking to do a cash out refinance to pay off some overdue debt and make home improvements. I had some debt in collections so my credit wasn’t that great. Doing a cash out refinance was really my only option to paying off these debts and cleaning up my credit. After doing a Google search I found Smart Mortgage Centers and filled out the online application. Honestly, I wasn’t very hopeful since my credit wasn’t that great and I didn’t think I would be able to qualify for anything. After filling out the application I received a text almost immediately from Nick. He helped me to finish up the application, looked at my credit report, and asked what my goals were. He also sent me his contact information and told me I could contact him anytime. I still didn’t know what to expect and still wasn’t confident I’d qualify for anything but I figured I would pursue this and see what would happen. I didn’t hear anything for a few days, but we were going into the Thanksgiving holiday so I wasn’t surprised and I didn’t want to be pushy. I was surprised when I got a call from Nick during the holiday weekend but I took it as a sign that he was committed to helping me! He told me he was able to get a preapproval and I was in shock. While it was a long process (due to the holidays) with a few snags along the way, Nick was able to get this refinance done for me! He was in constant contact with me so I knew exactly what step we were at. I always felt bad texting him during off hours but he always responded immediately. He never made me feel dumb when I asked silly questions. I can’t say enough about the level of service Nick provided during this entire process. He was professional yet very easy to talk to. When I would talk to him it was like talking to a friend rather than a loan officer. Not once did I have to ask him what the status of my loan was because he would tell me before I had the chance to ask! Getting this cash out refinance is allowing me to get out of debt and make some much needed home improvements. In 6 months I’m planning on refinancing again to get a better interest rate (since my credit will be much improved) and will be using Nick again to help me out.

My husband contacted Smart Mortgages and we ended up with Tony. This man has done everything possible to make everything go smooth as possible. We had several bumps in the road and Tony was on top of it 24/7. The last issue being that I lost my job 2 weeks before closing. He worked with the lender/underwriters and he was able to get them to approve my loan as long as I was able to find a job right away and provide check stubs. It was close. I gothired at my husbands part time job and I was only out of work 2 days. Was able to get a one day stub so we could still close on time. 3 days before closing the underwriter said they made a mistake and that I would have to work two full weeks and get that check. Anthony worked his but off and he worked with my employer to get the proper verification completed and a print out of my hours for 1.5 weeks. 2 days later the underwriter accepted the paper work and we closed on schedule the next day. I will share the most positive experience I have ever received from any bank or mortgage company in my entire adult years. Might I say I was treated as the “Old Pop and Mom” 1960s banker would have treated a new client. I was in search of someone to help me combine a first and second mortgage.
